Maine mass shooting suspect found dead – Times of India


NEW DELHI: The main suspect in the Maine mass shooting, Robert Card, has been found dead, the 48-hour manhunt to an end, according to the Lisbon Maine Police department quoted by multiple media reports.
Card was suspected to be responsible for killing 18 and injuring 13 people in a shooting spree.
The 40-year old allegedly dies due to self-inflicted gunshot wound, reported ABC news while quoting unnamed law enforcement sources.
Robert Card, an US army reservist was wanted in a shooting at a bowling alley and then a bar few minutes later.
According to the authorities Card had been dealing with mental health problems and was committed to a psychiatric facility for Summer for two weeks.
Authorities have characterized Robert Card, an Army Reserve sergeant hailing from the nearby town of Bowdoin, as a proficient firearms instructor who fulfilled the role of a petroleum supply specialist during his military reserve base duties in Saco, Maine.
The incident in the state’s second-largest city marks the 36th mass killing in the United States this year, according to the Associated Press and USA Today collaborative database maintained in partnership with Northeastern University.
